Mrs. Naomi Wangari

About Me

I am Naomi Wangari Wambui, a Mechanical Technician at KenGen, Kenya’s leading renewable energy company. My professional journey reflects a strong integration of technical expertise and administrative competence, supported by a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from St. Paul’s University and a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Eldoret Polytechnic.

Throughout my career, I have worked at the intersection of engineering and management, enabling me to make meaningful contributions to Kenya’s renewable energy agenda. At KenGen, I play a vital role in maintaining and supporting mechanical systems that ensure reliable and efficient energy generation. My work environment demands technical precision, analytical thinking, and collaboration — qualities I have cultivated to achieve excellence in both individual and team settings.

My passion for renewable energy and sustainability continues to shape my professional engagements. I have participated in various national and international conferences, both as a speaker and delegate, where I have interacted with diverse stakeholders, including engineers, policymakers, and researchers. These platforms have enhanced my understanding of the evolving energy landscape and strengthened my commitment to advancing sustainable solutions through innovation and collaboration.

In addition to my professional responsibilities, I have been actively involved in the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Kenya (IET-K). I have contributed significantly to the planning and execution of previous IET-K conferences, where I participated in sourcing speakers, coordinating advertising campaigns, and leading public engagement initiatives. These experiences have refined my organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills, reinforcing my ability to deliver well-coordinated and impactful events.

I also serve as the Vice Chairperson of the MOGA Alumni Association, a position that allows me to engage in mentorship and oversee various alumni activities. Through this role, I have strengthened my leadership, teamwork, and organizational abilities while fostering a culture of accountability, inclusivity, and continuous learning.

Given the opportunity to serve as Organizing Secretary of IET-K, I am committed to ensuring efficient and transparent coordination of all society activities. I will prioritize timely communication, effective collaboration, and member engagement, working closely with other leaders to uphold the institution’s values of professionalism and integrity.

My vision is to contribute to building a stronger, more connected, and transparent IET-K community that supports innovation, nurtures emerging professionals, and promotes engineering excellence across Kenya and beyond.
